Newtownmountkennedy is located in County Wicklow, nestled between the mountains and the sea. It is home to Coillte, Ireland’s semistate forestry company, and is surrounded by native woodland.  The town has a population of 3,539 people and continues to grow. More and more people choose Newtownmountkennedy for its proximity to Dublin (around 30 minutes by car) and Wicklow, as well as for its quiet, green setting.

Fo Newtownmountkennedy, the Town Centre First Plan is a way to translate local knowledge and community aspirations into a shared vision for the future. The plan is guided by a Town Team made up of local residents, businesses, and stakeholders, supported by the Town Regeneration Officer and the technical expertise of the Local Authority. Through this collaborative approach, the plan aims to shape a resilient, connected, and vibrant town centre. Implementation will be supported by national funding streams such as the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund and the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund, ensuring that the community’s vision can be turned into real, lasting change.
